what causes overheating after replacing the old impeller with a new impeller?

I just replaced the old impeller on my Yamaha 200Hp outboard motor & put in a new one. I had it running for 15 minutes working perfectly well and after the first 20 minutes, it started to overheat. Check/replace the thermostat and PRV

look at a parts breakdown on this site http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Outboard/parts.html
and get a Yamaha manual for your motor sounds like you need one.

I Have an 87 200 HP Yamaha with out a temp. gauge. I also did the whole water pump rebuild this year. Everything appears to working fine but what is the best way to know what temp. I'm running at?
