what creates a good spark in ox66 225hp

My mech is troubleshooting why my engine starts hard....have gone thru all the usal suspects....

He said that the only thing wrong is weak spark...

I have new batteries, good plug wires, new plugs, gapped properly, cleaned up all plug wire connections....

what are the elements that create a good spark...what role does the stator play?

check stator output voltage from both charge coils.
if that passes check CDI output voltage.
the stator charge coils supply the operating voltage for CDI output.

When did you have the oxygen sensor replaced or have you had it serviced???????

I cleaned it (o2 sensor) myself last month...looked pretty clean and the valve was fine too...hole was open all the way thru...soaked it just below the threads for 24 hours in ring free, then wire brushed it and cleaned off with electrical contact cleaner...let dry and put back in...

my mechanic said its the stator....he said the resistance is not to spec and I need a new one...

I hope he is right....they are expensive...best price I've seen is 508...my local yamaha dealer is almost 680...

I would never replace a stator on that engine WITHOUT a peak voltage OUTPUT test.
