Hi there, I was trying to find out what year this is. I know nothing about these motors. It runs but does need some work on it I am sure. The handle has a crack on it. I think that someone would want to buy this but I dont know what yearr or how much I should ask for it. This was on a flatbottom that I got but I had a newer one.

Any help on this would be appreciated. DSCF3312.jpgDSCF3316.jpgDSCF3317.jpgDSCF3313.jpg

Pretty certain what it is, but post the model number and we can be sure. Look on the left side stern bracket where it connects to the boat. There will be a 1x2 tag there with the model number posted on it. Let us know what that is. The price will be based on model, if it is in running condition, compression, your area, time of year, etc...

But lets start by pinpointing the model.

The spark plugs are angled slightly on the 15 and 18. Plus the flywheel has a ring on it. Blank with a pull start only but with gear teeth if electric start. I'd say it's a 10 horse. It's got a 56 throttle grip but it looks like a 57 style pull start handle that doesn't seem to fit very well. What's left of the color looks like 57 Holiday Bronze. More red less copper. Still I'm gonna say 56 10 horse QD-17.

Does the 10hp have the same air silencer as the 18's?

Yea, It looks as though the air silencer was changed in 1956. Okay

These model 10's were the best. It still had the older 5 bolt lower unit.

What would this motor be valued at in this shape. It does run after you pull it a few times.

Not a lot. 100 bucks if it has good compression, shifts and runs on both cylinders, and it has the pressure tank and fuel line, if indeed it is a 1956 QD-17. They still used the pressure tank. The problem is they have little or no collector value at all, and you'll be selling to someone who wants to use it on their fishing boat. The price will vary depending on where you're at. North TX is pretty much a "big lake, big boat" area. It might go for slightly more in a place that has smaller water and creeks/rivers.
