On the same format as the username thread, where does the name of your boat come from? I see many and always try to figure them out. Some are just impossible!


STICK'S COMPETITION - My wife is tall and lean and I've called her "Stick" since the day I met her. When we bought this Carver, she said that this boat would be her only real competition for my attention...hence, Stick's Competition".

Along the lines of Frankenstein. Cause she was brought back to life with parts from multiple different boats and kinda looks it. My wife says I'm always "frankening" something, cars, computers, boats, etc.

Ours is called "Out of the blue" which is how we came across it originally. Been a family fixture ever since.

Not hard to figure out - me and my best buddy went in together on a boat. Worked out great. Just wish it would have been a better boat.

My Step dad named the boat,

He's a traveling man and goes vacationing.
I had him pick up my boat, It was dirty and rickity and needed a lot of work.

Upon pickup up the boat from him he said:
"Here's your Leaky Tiki"

So it stuck. Leaky Tiki

well, mines not to impossible. no play on words. as for where it came from. it was the first name i thought of. nothing else fit after that... i did try to come up with something else too, but nothing worked like lime time..

+ lime time has 2 meanings for me. obviously when i'm out boating, it's time to be in my lime green boat. it's lime time. the other meaning is i used to like to drink a few rum and cokes. i like lime in my rum and cokes. hence, it's lime time..

Wow Ziggy...I've done a lot of upholstery in my time. I don't think I have ever seen green interior that...well...green! Holy Cow!! Name sure fits!

Almost every time we were out on our old Rinker, I would tell my wife, "I want a new boat". She would always reply, "keep dreaming".

Seven years of saving later, we bought our new boat. Our last name is Day, so we played a little pun on daydream and named her "DAY'sDREAM".

Ended up putting that on our vehicle plates as well.

My boat has no name on it. The government being what it is, NOAA(national oceanic atmospheric administration) which controls Federal commercial fishing licenses named my boat, "Unknown."

Our boat did not have a name (because we couldn't agree on one) until we found out that the wife was pregnant and we had 2 name picked out Ariel for a girl and Brayden for a boy well when we found out we were having a boy we both looked at each other and said at the same time "ok now we have a name for the boat - Ariel".

My last boat was called "House Buoy" This was a play on what my wife referred to me at work, because at the time I bought the boat we weren't married and she couldn't stand to refer to me as boyfriend, significant other etc......and I am retired and she still works......her "House Boy"


My current boat "Alc?ve 1" is named after the town in Quebec where the original owner lived, and he registered the boat under that name so I can't change it without a whole bunch of legal hassle. But after having every french speaking person come up and speak french, I removed the circumflex from the "o" and that solved that issue...
