Re: What gauge batt wire?

I agree, good decision to keep them close to the engine.

(at 25', I was wondering where you were going to locate the batteries... On the bow pulpit  :D)

Yah man, I set the batts at midships, just in front of about the midline.

When I first measured it (tape measure) I came up with about 22'. Huh:confused: Really? It's only a 22' boat! Measured again, same.

Stupid tape measure must be wrong...

Grab a fat orange extension cord and ran it right exactly where the batt cable would be, 24, almost 25 feet:facepalm:

Yah, maybe it could be figured out with batt cable that was big enough, but, that kind of length just doesn't seem to sit very well with me.

Thanks guys:)

I ran into the same problem on a 16' fishing boat. Moved the battery from the stern to the very bow. !8 to 20' long should do it. NAAHH. :)
Decided to use solid Copper 20' jumper cables set. Had to use that from battery to steering & dash board. Then bought a short set to use from the dashboard to the motor. 9.9 hp motor has no voltage loss when cranking. Cheap, tough & very efficient.
I tried to find a + 24' set but could not. 20 years ago.
I eventually moved the battery back to the stern when I started carrying a portable 6 gallon metal tank in the very bow. Along with extra anchors, anchor winch, tackle & everything else that was in the stern or laying loose all around.
