If the motor has the older nonethanol fuel lines and fuel compontence then Ethenol will have a bad effect on them. If all have been changed to the new ethenol resistant type then everything should be good to go. The live rubber used in the older motors will crack and go bad from the ethenol. As for the octain rating 87 is just fine and will not make any big diffrance in the performance of the motor.
