When I first came to this site a few years ago, I was always interested in many of your posts. I miss some of the "conversations" that we have had in the past. Maybe you weren't a Moderator back in those days. It seems that many of your posts now are direct, short, and not near as friendly as they used to be. If being a Moderator has created this, then let me say that I would like to see the JB return that I knew when I first stumbled upon this site. I make this statement as someone that has considered your comments as one of the reasons that I have hung around so long. I do not make this statement as a personal attack or in retaliation to any particular post.

I realize that I contribute very little to this site, (as Mellow Yellow once pointed out in a much older thread). So it probably doesn't matter what one person thinks.

I spend the majority of my time in the NTDWB section because I enjoy many of the conversations that appear here, and I enjoy the "friends" that I have made through this site. It is a great site.

Anyway, apparently i'm just ranting. I will be very interested in hearing your reply JB......And how about a reply as JB the Ancient Mariner, and not JB the Moderator. ;)

Re: What happened JB

A good moderator does not take part. As a moderator has in his power to do anything to posts, he cannot involve himself in discussions where things may develop in way, where his credibility may be questioned.

It goes with the job, unfortunately, as it's a loss to the forums when such capacities stop talking.

Re: What happened JB

Howdy, Carpy.

Through the summer our traffic has been very heavy with the result that I spend a lot of time moving, editing and evaluating posts. That leaves me less time to devote to conversation, so I get in a hurry. Then my posts get shorter.

Things are slowing down now, so I have more time for being just another member in addition to moderating.

Some personal and family problems have probably affected my mood negatively lately as well. Those mostly aren't permanent, but they probably make me less friendly while they last.

Thanks for the heads up. I had noticed the same things and am trying to prevent them from affecting how I post. :)

Re: What happened JB

Thanks for the response JB. I understand you have a full time job on your hands previewing the many posts on all of the boards. You were the first one that welcomed me to iboats when I arrived, and for what its worth, consider you a friend. You, and many of the other members here have helped ease some of my worries in the past, let me say that I would be more than happy to return the favor, if there are personal issues that you need to discuss. You have always been there for us, so we owe you. :)

Oh, I almost forgot, now what weekend was I supposed to meet you at the Hideout for that special guided deer hunt? I forgot to mark it on my calender. :D

Re: What happened JB

JB and all the other Moderators,

I have noticed the short replies too. My hat is off to all of you since this forum has grown so much. I thought the short replies were the result of answering the same questions over and over. You guys certainly have patience. I have been told I am very patient with others but if I were a moderator I think I would probably end up making a form response that says "use the Search feature." I check the forums pretty much every day but am getting to the point where I am just scanning the subjects and reading the ones that catch my interest. I am truly amazed at how you gentlemen keep up :) .
Keep up the good work - You are appreciated!

Best regards,
RCS

Thanks to JB and all the moderators on this forum.

You guys are the best!

Hey Carphunter, maybe if you and some others (myself included)in this forum where a little more respectful to the moderators and did not continually try to use prohibitted language, the moderators might have more time to spend contributing to the topics instead of continually having to clean them up.

We are all suppose to be adults here.

Just a thought.

Kenny

Speak for yourself Kenny you potty-mouth....... I am always respectful. ;)

......and, I never claimed to be an "adult". :D

......and, This was not a thread intended to show disrespect to any of the moderators, or belittle the job that they do.

......and, I was really "talking" to JB, because I have enjoyed his posts. :p

......and, Steve McNair should be MVP.

......and, I don't like to breathe second hand smoke.

......and, I really do believe that SBN has been abducted by aliens.

......and, I like to kill what I eat.

......and,.........what the heck was this thread about again?

Re: What happened JB

I did not notice a change in JB. Since I've been around he has always been a moderator.

He is the reason I signed up here. I would not be here if it where not for him. I got word on another forum that JB was a moderator over here and I joined. I was happley surprized to find a bunch of other great people along with him.

JB,
Good luck you your famly and other prolbems.
