Re: What happened to 12Footer?

It seems that God has answered my prayers, in the ways that God answers them. Nothing earth-shattering,like winning the lotto, but the lord did provide what me and my family needed.
What a wonderfull testimony 12 footer. God will always provide for us and I am very glad that you recognize this. I am glad everything is working out for you and your family, especially you daughter and her husband. God bless.

No, it don't werk that way, Boatingfool.
And let this be a warning to anyone else who switches IP's;
Make sure your services overlap by at least a couple days, and to update your profile while you still have both IP addresses. Because what happens when you change your email address here,is that iboats logs you off, and sends an email to your OLD address, with a new PW it makes up random.
Of course, as long as iboats can send you that email message, you can still get back. But if it can't.........

Re: What happened to 12Footer?

How is iboats going to know you changed your e-mail??

If you know your user name and Password and go on vacation and go onto a completely different computer with a completely different internet provider and log onto iboats with that user name and password and it will let you on. Been there done that.

Now , if you get logged off and dont know your password and your e-mail adress is different then what is in your profile then your screwed.

iboats will only e-mail a password to the adress in your profile.

But if you know your user name & password you can log on from any computer from any internet provider at anytime.

So know your password.

If you dont remember it you can go to your profile and change it at any time.

Soulwinner, I just got back from services with my wife, daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law.And I can honestly say, that if ol 12Footer died today in a car wreck, the prayers for help I made have ALL been answered. It truely is nothing less than an answered prayer.
And it's good to be with him again after a 23year travesty of calling myself "Christian".
I'll tell you the whole story some day.

Boatingfool, You axed ,"How is iboats going to know you changed your e-mail??
Go into your profile, and there will be a place where you can change your email address. But be carefull...Make sure the address you enter there, matches an accessable address for you.
The reason is, as soon as you enter a new Internet address, iboats will log you out right after you hit "enter". It then sends you a new randomly-generated PW....To your old internet address. If it is no longer a valid address, you can't receive your new PW, and therefore, not log back in....Ever---Unless admin can interviene, and re-direct the new pw to your new address. You also said;
"If you know your user name and Password and go on vacation and go onto a completely different computer with a completely different internet provider and log onto iboats with that user name and password and it will let you on. Been there done that."
You are corect, of course. but try this if possable;
Use you wife's internet screename and enter it inplace of your own in you user profile....Zap....Then, standby for a message from iboats. :D
Warning! :eek: Do not try this experiment, unless you can actually use the internet address you entered-into your iboats profile. It WILL be the last we hear from you if you do.

That doesnt make any sense?? :confused:

You update your profile to show your adress has changed and iboats logs you out and sends a new password to address you just got telling them you do not have any more?? :confused:

Sounds like a software glitch that iboats should be able to change very easily.

Re: What happened to 12Footer?

Not to the new address, BF... The old address.

And if you are like me, and no longer have your old address, you do not receive this vital message....And you can't logon anymore, because you old pw is history.
Send me an email. (seanzaw@earthlink.net).
Then, go into your profile, and change your internet address to seanzaw@earthlink.net.
BEFORE YU DO,READ WHAT IS BLUE! In the blue window, you will read the following;
"Because we require that each email address be verified, any change of your email address will result in an automatic change of your password by the system; this new password would be emailed to the new email address that you list."
If there is a glitch, it is here. It actually sends it to your old address.
What will happen is, you get log-out as soon as you hit enter. Iboats.com will then send you a new password with which to logon with. You can change this once you log on, but if you changed your internet address to mine, guess who gets your profile.
IOW, if you change your IP, make sure your old account is still active before you change it.

12Footer...
Just because you've been away and everyone has made a big fuss :D That's no reason to slack off
on the Dockside chat forum...
Retirement doesn't apply here... :D
:D :D
There are poor helpless outboard owners, wondering aimlessly on the boards awaiting expert advice. :D
