My boat was made in 1996 so I would assume it has a Gen 2 outdrive, but it is labled Gen +. Is there a difference between a Gen + drive and a Gen 2 drive or are they the same? Or am I wron all together?

I was looking at parts and most everything references Gen 1's or Gen 2's but I never seen anything about Gen +'s

Thanks

Gen+ refers to the engine, not drive. It means your engine has vortec heads (more hp over standard heads), which is a good thing. :)

So to verify, It is a generation 2 drive with vortec heads on my 4.3, correct?

Yep, your drive is an Alpha One Gen 2, simply because of the year of the boat.

Gen + is INDEED and ENGINE designation. For example my 1997 boat was a "5.7LX EFI Gen + Bravo". It indicates Vortec Heads and a roller camshaft (or at least it should have a roller cam too). 96 and 97 were the only years they used the Gen + nomenclature.
