What is it? Please help identify aluminum 14'V hull.

Not long ago I bought this 14' aluminum v; make, model, and year unknown. The previous owner got a HIN issued in OH. I found some markings on the bottom side of the cap at the bow that reads "/29/N."

Dimensions: in the middle at the top of the gunwales it is 64" wide and 48" wide at the floor. At the transom it is 60" wide at the top and 52" at the bottom. It is 23" deep at the center of the transom and 30" deep at the center of the bow.

Nice rig

It sure looks like a Crestliner or Lund 14' due to the high sides and wide beam. The mini splashwell makes me lean towards Lund since I know they made boats with that style for years.

What are your plans for powering her?

Wow that thing was painted quite a few times from the look of it.

Did you strip all the paint off or just scuff and repaint over the old?

It just occurred to me that it is probably an older rig than I first thought, so it could be from a company that is no longer in business.

Another thought I had is that it could be a grumman. They made very high-sided boats like yours for many years as well.

I would guess it was a closed-bow Starcraft with the bow deck shortened. Maybe a Nassau or a Jet.

I removed most of the paint, went down to the metal with a wire brush on a grinder around all the riveted areas, most of the bottom and any where else that looked like it needed it, then after sanding extensively cleaned it with acetone and primed the entire thing with two coats of self-etching primer before shooting it with four coats of parker coatings duck boat paint. Between coats it got a little attention with either 600, 800, or 1000 grit.

Yes its definitely old, I was thinking that starcraft was a possibility. I have done some searching and can't find an exact match. I was kinda hoping someone on here might say hey my boat looks like that and go out and find matching markings and tell me what it is, but I guess thats a longshot!

looks good now! I'm guessing a starcraft bow rider that has been stripped out. If you hadn't said the length I'd guess a 16' from the late 60's. Those three holes back from the bow would be where the console wall joined in.

Be careful with that home-made transom extender. The splashwell thwart is not very strong IIRC.

What do you mean transom extender? This is my first boat and i'm not sure I completely understand what you are talking about/mean. The transom was redone by the previous owner, I am not so sure about the bolts he put in, is that what you are talking about the splashwell thwart? I'm guessing he put those bolts in because he was worried about the weight of the mariner 40hp. The transom is solid though, and I will be using a transom saver with the 40hp whenever it is out of the water.

Are you saying the transom was originally not that tall?

Also, anyone know what those little rings on the inside top of the hull are for? My guess they were wire guides or something originally?

Those were designed to hold the pulleys for the cable steering system that probably came factory on your boat.

Here's a picture of a 1962 Starcraft 14' Jet for comparison.
Given the cable steering that's probably the ballpark vintage.

Yeah I am almost positive now that it is a starcraft. Some of the features of the covering on the bow look a little different so if anyone has any more info or insight it would be much appreciated! But thanks for the help!
