fuel primer solenoid, adds a little extra fuel before you crank it

The little tire valve thingy....you can use that to inject engine tuner and fog into the engine. BRP engine tuner and fog cans have hoses attached with screw on connections to fit the valve on the engine. Makes it easy.

The fuel primer solenoid takes the place of the choke plate. Now, when you push in on the key, the solenoid is activated and opens a little valve inside it. This lets fuel shoot straight into the reed behind the carb. Take a closer look and there will be a small hose running to each carb from the primer solenoid.

Re: what is it??

The red lever should remain in the normal 'run' position (inline with the solenoid body). The only time you would turn it perpendicular or 'on' is if the fuel primer solenoid was not working. If the red lever was even cracked open while running,it would indeed cause a fuel rich condition.

You could test to see if the solenoid primer was passing fuel while in the normal run position(engine not running) by detaching the outlet hose and pumping up the fuel primer bulb.If it passes fuel ,it's defective. It should only pass fuel if the solenoid is energized or the red lever is placed in the manual prime position.
