I am replacing spark plug wires and there is a thick green coating on the connector at the end of the wire at the coil. Should I clean inside the coil connection? What is this gunk and where did it come from?
Must be oxidation. I'm gonna clean it out of there.

That is Mercury 2-4-C grease......not oxidation.

up graded my form red too the blue coils, they have a better ground system! Had to take 3//8x1 inch cylindrical grinding stone run it down in the hole to clean it out. That stuff was hard as a rock! put sum no ox jell on 35year wires and was good to go. good luck! My bad thought you were talking about sealer on plug wire my coils were use. The nuts I laid on 600grit paper and cleaned that stuff off!

Will it hurt to soilder the wires to the coil wire connectors? I like the idea of not being able to pull the wire out of the connector and ensuring a good connection.
