What is this fitting for?

Yamaha Exciter 220. Why is it there and why is it leaking? What does this thing do? It is not exhaust or for the bilge pump. If I plug the boat and put in 15 gallons of water, it comes out of this hole. When I come back from a day of boating now there is about 45 gallons of water in the boat.

What's the diameter of it? Can't tell from the pix. If it's about 3/4" & in the center of the bottom of your transom it's your bilge drain that should have a plug in it when the boat is in the water. (or you will sink!)

It's about 2" across and it is in the center section of the transom but it's not where the bilge plug goes. I honestly don't know what it's for. It has a hose connected to it but I can't see it as the engine compartment is semi sealed from the part behind it where the flush outs are.

Could be for a live/bait well inlet. Whatever it is it shouldn't be open under the water line.

The manual says nothing about it and yamaha direct doesn't even show it on their blow out. I cannot see that far into the bilge. The Yamaha exciter has a sealed engine compartment with twin 8" holes in the back wall to get to the bilge pump, flush tubes, steering/shift cables etc. That's where this little booger is but it's too far down to get to. It is below the water line and leaking. I'm starting to think it shouldn't be there.

BTW my background in boating is I've been doing it all my life and I'm 25. My father builds kevlar/carbon fiber race boats but is making me tough this one out myself. We can rule out the basic stuff. I do appreciate the help too.

Take another photo (keep it smaller 640 x 480 ) and show it's location.

Are you sure it is not the drain for the hull? Deck drains?

You might actually have a crack in the hull too allowing that much water in. You realize that 45 gallons of water is over 360 lbs which equals two people

According to the manual that is a deck drain and is SUPPOSED to have a functioning One Way Valve inline and that may be malfunctioning......

The picture is looking from the back of the boat. It is directly to the left of the right jet pump.

Sounds like Bob VT must have it....you said you put 15 gallons of water in the boat and it came out .....the drain.....you must have a bad check valve in line somewhere......

He was right. We took some simple green all purpose(since it's green it's easily visible), poured it in every bilge drain back and it didn't come out of the fitting. Poured it in the deck drain and it came out the fitting AND the bilge which means the line is split. I will be cutting the line at the floor, routing it to the bilge and fiberglassing over the hole after I fit a plug in.
