What is this? Foil, fin? Is it the right one? Take it off?

I've saw these before. I assume they help you get on plane faster and maybe get some more speed.

But this one looks old and maybe too small. The drive is an OMC Cobra connected to a 5.7 OMC engine on a 25' Donzi.

Should I take this off? Get a new one? Is this the right one for this drive, engine, and boat?

Personally, They put a lot of stress on the drive's fin and I have see cracks/breaks from aftermarket fins made of AL. It MIGHT allow you to get on plane faster, might not.

I would remove it if it was my drive, but my only .02, others may have different opinions on them.

They are just like trim tabs.
If they are easy to remove try out the boat with and without, see if you like them.

They should help you get on plain faster without losing top end.

Thanks

So do they make ones that are specifically for certain out drives? Does this look like it might be the right one for my Cobra?
