what is this part....

...and is it critical? it goes right in front of the air intake on the carb and mine is missing and theres just an open hole in the lower cowl. seems like its going to be hard to find. is it a flow restriction that limits air flow or can i just block the hole with something?

I believe that is where the kill button once was.
How do you turn off the motor?

there is no electrical stuff that goes there and it is right in front of the carb..so no room for anything really. from what i have read the motor didnt have a kill switch...just choke it to kill it.

Merc supplied a plug to go there, but if it's open I wouldn't worry about it....
