first of all i have had alot of dumb questions but thankfully there is a search on this forum! LOL, so thanks to all the question askers and answers to this forums
I just "inherited" a boat, first boat, trying to read and learn what I can.
1994 195 four winns sundowner, OMC VP 5.0

what is this other filter so I can ask for it by name?

It`s a possable problem ,not really needed with the spin on , "ON THE SUCTION SIDE", if it`s on the pressure side ,you have a bigger problem.

Question: inline fuel filter, suppose to go before water/fuel separator?

The fuel/water seperator IS a fuel filter. That little filter is a screen (more or less) and keeps rocks out. Shouldn't even be there, why filter the fuel to a filter?
It's one thing to have 2 water seperating fuel filters. But that little inline is a waste of time, and since it's not approved for use in an I/O engine compartment, it dangerous too.
