looks like the cover to a live well, or storage compartment. not from you boat.

Re: What is this thing I found in my boat?

Forgive me, I still haven't figured out how to put multiple quotes in one response.

I agree that it must be a cover for a storage compartment. There is a plastic storage compartment under the bench, but this doesn't fit.

I also agree that it probably doesn't belong to this boat. Which is way I posted as I thought maybe someone might see something I'm not as I don't know this boat very well....yet.

I like the suggestion of putting it under the tongue of the trailer so it doesn't sink, it 'may' snap, but I don't have another purpose for it anyway.

Thanks for the compliments on the boat. Tomorrow I'm going to put it in the water for the FIRST time.....pretty pumped about it! I bought it off of ebay in November (hence the pics with snow in them) for $2900. I've run it in the back yard, (ran perfect!) but have yet to water test it....well see. :)

Interesting point on the Radial T/A tires...are they really that bad? We won't be trailering it much. About 120 miles at the beginning of the season, and 120 at the end of the season.

As Tash said looks like the cover to a live well from another boat with those two holes to lift it out.

Says don't trailer with it is covering the live well cause it will blow out of the boat while trailering.

Previous owner probably kept it around and used it to cut bait or fish . . . Smell it . . . does it smell like fish? :D

Good luck with your test run tomorrow, it's sure is a pretty boat. Two days ago it was in the 80's down here (MI) Today I saw a few snow flurries at the spring football game (UM)

Thanks for your well wishes....I'll post a vid of the event.

We're expecting a week in 20's C.....that's 70's in your talk. :) You must be getting that cold dip we had a day ago....if so...expect warm nice temps to follow....

No idea on the cover, looks like it's from a different boat. You don't drive on the left side of the road up there do you? Maybe just parked weird. I'd look into some trailer tires. Those radial TA's are really not safe on a boat trailer. Boat looks very nice.
Those aren't Radial T/As, they're Belted T/As. They may even be actual trailer tires, but without a doubt, they are ancient and should be replaced.

$3K? Awesome! Did you find it in Canada or have to head south to pick it up? I wish I could find a smoking deal like that. I'm having a hard time justifying big boat payments for something you can only use 4 months of the year up here.

The quickest way to find out where it goes..... Toss it in the trash and the night after the trash man comes, you will figure out where it goes. :D Always happens to me that way. Something can sit in my garage for years and the minute after it's gone forever, I figure out why I needed it.

It was Flacon Lake. The lake was smooth as glass.

So the day wasn't perfect. Put the boat in, started it, haven't been to this launch before. Idled out of the marina area....still idling...."bam"...hit a rock! No markers....there wasn't a single boat in the docks yet so I'm guessing markers do go out, but weren't there because that would be alot of traffic by a rock that is in less than 3' of water.

So, my brand spanking new prop....100 feet into the season.

How much would you guess this shaved off the top end? I got 44mph at 4200rpm. 21P. (I'll post this in the prop section.)

The other 'less than perfect moment' was the boat nearly died at one point about 10 min into the first run. It did it again about 3 min later. It didn't do it again after that so I don't know what that was about?

Hittin' rocks sucks. Just a guess, but it probably cost you a couple hundred rpm and 1-2 mph. The bigger concern is the vibration it is sending back into the drive.

As for the tires - car tire, truck tire, trailer tire...it just doesn't matter. Matched set with proper weight capacity and psi, your good to go.
HOWEVER, age and condition are important. I would pull the hubs and give a little tlc to the bearings too.

If my prop looked like that, I wouldn't be running it anymore that day.
