Re: What job do you do?

Oh, I thought we were just listing what we do currently.

I worked part time as carpenters helper in high school while attending trade school as a welder. Joined the US Navy Seabees as a Steel worker. Worked for my old mans truck repair and rental businesses. Also completed many contruction jobs for him over the few years I worked for him using work release prisoners as my crews.
Took a cut in pay to train as a Steel detailer ( autocad draftsman )and assistant project manager. Specializing in detailing, steel framing and errection of fast food franchises such as Mcdonalds, Burger King, Sizzler and Red Lobsters.

Then landed a job in the extrusion dept. of the medical device company where I work now. Worked in several different medical device products departments within this company. Went to college during this time and aquired the trade equvilant of electronic/instrumentation specialist.

The one thing I regret is that I have yet to make any decent money IMO for the skills I delivered.

My next endeavor is to do just that.....Im ready to pick up a contractors lis. and start over again.

There, thats the short version. Rocket science is neat but I just want to make money, aquire wealth and travel again before I die.

oddjob

Re: What job do you do?

Outta' high school I went to work for the towns power plant. Joined the USAF and was a weapons control tech...radar, flir, weapons computers and such. Got out and went to work for AEP at a local plant. Retired as a supervisor in the operations department....operators run them big things. Back in 89', my Dad an I built a shop and put our outboard engine repairs skills to work....(got tired of doing it for free) and it mushroomed into bait and tackle, boating accessories, trailer accessories and just about anything that deals with water and boating. Last Jan. I retired to the that shop with almost 40 years with AEP. Currently I'm still at the shop....like it a whole bunch more than working for someone else..... :) :)

Now I am pretty much a tinkerer and a lab rat for testing new arthritis drugs. Hey, its the only way I can afford them.

Re: What job do you do?

I am a utility mechanic for a large school district. We service 18 buildings that hold a total of 13,800 students. I do carpentry, electrical ,welding, tractor repair, grounds etc. etc. With only 10 maintenance men running around to 18 buildings it gets kinda nuts sometimes. I also see some stuff that is so funny you would die laughing. One of the things I like the most about the job is low stress, and being able to travel to different buildings through out the day, not looking at the same 4 walls all day. The pays is decent but the bennys are top notch. I can honestly say I like my job.

Before that I was a superintendent for a commercial construction co. It was getting way out of hand. Every job on the fast track, way too much stress.

Glad things worked out the way they did.

Waterworks lead-hand for our region. There's about 60 000 customers and it's an old system that has a lot of upgrading taking place at the moment. My office is located at the Sewage treatment plant which serves the same residents. We are all (the operators) certified in both disciplines (water/wastewater) so that we can operate either system don't have to have 2 people on standby pager at night and on the weekends/holidays. I love my job too.

QC, yes we take out at South Cove. Used to take out at Pearce before the lake dropped. We just love motoring an extra 2 hours at 10mph in 120* heat  It's a 12 ton boat before you load it with passengers and their gear and we have a 30hp Honda motor. My last trip was Sept. of last year, we start back up in April. We're the only white motor rigs on the river. Canyoneers in big green letters on the pontoons. And yes they are a motley crew. :D

I'da never thought it. :)

I am currently a laundry manager for the prison system. Currently trying for two jobs. First is my old standby postal worker. One day it may actually happen. The second job I'm trying for is Gang Sargeant at the prison. I have the credentials but I know very little spanish, thats gonna really hurt my chances.

Police officers are the best clients that I take fishing. They have such a stressfull job, that when they get on the water they really cut lose.

I swear, I should pay them for telling me all the dumb crook jokes they come up with. I have never laughed so hard in all my life. My stomach muscles were sore the next day, no joke.
