I need to get 1 of the 5 bolts out of the tilt cylinder. It was the only 1 that broke off when turning. I tried a regular bit and a left handed bit and it does no good.

Force 85Hp 856X8A not that that matters much :)

I have used a titanium bit with some success. Then used screw extractor of the correct size to remove the bolt. However, if it looks like you might damaage the cylinder, take it to a machine shop. They have all the right tools.

I always use a regular mettal bit. Start of small and work your way up using oil to cool the bit

Re: What kind of bit will drill stainless

Hi,i have just drilled out three head bolts out of my 1990 force 50, i had lots of problems then bought some new standard metal drill bits and i found that the drill bit would only bite when i applied lots of pressure and kept the speed low and kept it well oiled and if the bit got blunt then i would put a new edge on the bit and it worked fine... as i am now just clearing away old gaskets and getting ready to rebuild head and exhaust port.good luck...

If you know how to sharpen bits....flatten the angle out a little and bring the point to a drill point and use a cuuting oil on it.

A good Grade of cobalt drill bit will drill out that stainless stud, make sure you have it centered, and keep it lubed.

Just a piont. If you over heat the stud/bolt with a dull drill, you can work harden the stainless.. Keep it cool!
