I called a searay dealer today and notice that their new boats are still carbed. What kind of boats between 18-20 ft has fuel injection?

Fuel Injection is typically found on more expensive boats but it is optional with just about any V-6 on up motor.

Almost all outboards, both 2 and four stroke, are fuel injected now. I would say all, except I'm sure there may be a rare exception. All that I know of, for sure.

As far as inboards, I was unaware that any are carbed anymore. Every boat on the lot I've seen was Fuel Injected after about 99 or so, because of air quality regs, or so I thought.

I am very surprised that any boat manufacturer would be manufacturing/selling carbureted machines in this day and age...

Most smaller boats still have a carb on the base engine (with EFI as an option) - saves the buyer about $2000 which is substantial in the $15-20k range.

As the boat gets larger or the target market moves 'upscale" the base engines become EFI.

If everything on the lot is carbed - that tells you something about the dealer and how he perceives his market.

EFI or MPI is an option on almost any I/O engine.

I can't resist - - - There are no boats with fuel injection. Some engines have fuel injection but no boats.

yeah it's not uncommon to find carbed motors in boats that size. But yes if you do move up to the "higher end" models for example many of larsons senza models are carbed but move to the LXI models and I believe they are all MPI. and I tell you its so nice!!!!! turn the key and you know it'll start...don't have to worry bout flooding or other problems with carbed motors. Also the performance and fuel economy of a multi port fuel injected motor is unbelievable!! I'll never go back!!

A little plug for Larson....The warranty and quality of boat they put out compared crownline or sea ray...A lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.

Thanks for the info. I was avoiding the larson brand for some reason. Maybe a couple of bad threads somewhere.
