Adobe photoshop, but it's a bit of work to get it for free.

It's a $400 program that can be downloaded for free using a Torrent downloader.

Go to www.utorrent.com and download the torrent program.

Once you have that downloaded and set up go to www.mininova.org and do a search for adobe photoshop CS2.

It's a tricky program to learn how to use, but it does everything!

Good luck!

Note that it's illegal to get it through a torrent downloader.

Some people have mocked up boats here using MS Paint, which comes for free with a lot of systems.

If you want to stay legal....

The Gimp
http://www.gimp.org/windows/

It is an open source photoshop knock off.

These are just to manipulate graphics...now if you want CAD thats a completely different beastie.

Almost any time you buy a camera, or a scanner, or even a printer you'll get some kind of photo manipulation program, like Photoimpact. They all work for the basics, which is lightening, darkening, cropping, and resizing and changing encoding so they will fit into these stingy bulletin board specs.

There's several drafting programs out there, like turbocad. Any of them require a pretty hefty computer to do their magic. If you're thinking 3D, start at about 3 grand outlay for something that will work reasonably.

hope it helps

I have Photoshop. It can do WAY more than I can even hope to understand. Be sure to get a Photoshop For Dummies book to go with it.

Re: wHAT KIND OF COMPUTER PROGRAM?

I use MS Digital Image Editor... cost around $100. I use it all the time -- I am a contractor, so we take pictures of people's homes, change the color on it (inside or out), and change out windows/roof color, etc, and hand the homeowner back the picture. This way, they can change colors 50 different times, without residing the house 50 different times. :D

I can add on additions/roof lines, etc, or take something out of the picture completely. I've gotten good enough with it, that I can get people in a lot of trouble. I can take a picture of a someone, and put him in a place that he doesn't tell his wife he goes to.
