What kind of material should I replace sides with?

I am replacing the walls on the inside of my boat. The original material was plywood covered in foam and vinyl. I think the easiest material to use is either painted or carpeted plywood. What kind of plywood would work for this and what is the best way to waterproof it? I would love to find some kind of plastic 4'x8' sheeting to use, but am not sure where to find such a material.

The floor of this boat is in very good shape. My plan is to paint it and carpet it.

I'm using 1/2" ply on mine and sealing with polyurethane for the ones on the gunnels and resin and CSM for the ones touching the deck. I was able to resuse the vinyl but had to replace the foam. I don't think it really matters as long as it's sealed with something.

There are some resin and composit deck planks available but they're pretty spendy.

There are PVC panels available the same material the white PVC drain pipe is made of. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 inch thick.
I was lucky to find some in craigslist: 2' X 8' and 3' X 6' X 1/2" pieces.
the panels are painted and used as part of big advertising signs.
I think they kinda pricy new, I got them for $ 1.50/ sq'. Good stuff.
Some I am using for awnings I am building for an apartment complex, some I'm using in 2 boats. The PVC pipe cement from Home Dep. will be gluing the pieces together.

Since the inside panels of the boat aren't structural, use whatever you want.

Keep in mind the following though:

• It will get wet
• it will be in the sunlight
• You need padding wherever someone might lean against it, otherwise it's quite uncomfortable

Other than that, design away. Most people going the conventional route use plywood covered with vinyl. Other possibilities include fiberglass panels, teakwood planks, aluminum plate (don't laugh), leather, etc.

This is one part of the boat where you spend time making it look good instead of making it solid and waterproof.
