Well put her on Berlin Reservoir today. Oil pressure was at 40 lbs idle and 60 lbs running. Motor runs good., Temp was good never attempting to overheat. Got a few miles down the lake and dog house was filling with water. Couldn't tell why. My bilge pump blew a breaker as I had a 110 and a 500 wired to it. So quickly cut the power to the 1100 and run one from the battery/. Reset the breaker and 500 ran good. Connected 1100 and it to was good. Soon pumped it dry. No water coming from any where. So started boat and looked again. Motor is pumping water into blige. Patch was dry, but now seems to becoming from rear of block. Guessing its the freeze plugs behind the Fly wheel.
So next step pull that 3.0 so I can see what the devil is going on. LOL! Before pulling I'll check the cylinder pressure too, Just in cast ings, head gasket or something else needs done too. LOL1

Any one know the weight of this 3.0 engine, dont look very big. But want to set up a safe way to pull. High as this islander is it will probably require a tree limb and block and tackle. LOL!

Mine runs 4400 at WOT. Couple hundred could just be tachometer. Spec is 4400 to 4800, so 4200 might be a little over prop'd.

same crack mine had. patched and running fine. I also had all the core plugs blown out, from poor winterizing before I got it. get the brass plugs, so they don't rust out later.

When I pulled my engine I rented a porta-lift (cherry-picker) for $25. I got the big one made for a "van". I wasn't sure if it would be tall enough because boat was on trailer but I ended up having plenty of room to spare. I borrowed the safety chains from my trailer. cheap, safe, and easy way to go. Get new rear bushings ahead of time and you can probably pull it and put it back in all in one day.

Those lifts easy come apart so you can throw it in the back of a truck or whatever.

Well this is on a trailer too! And it would have to lift 6 foot to clear the transom. The motor itself is approx. 29" high. so it would be better then 8 ft lift. So probably the ole backyard tree limb. Just did a dry compression test and Cly. #1 -1 110, 2- 115, 3- 115, 4- 105. Seems awful low as I guess i was expecting 150-170 PSI Still trying to find correct pressure. But was happy the difference wasn't more. So getting the old oil can out. Will do a wet reading and see what if any changes. Thinking the low pressure readings could be why 4200 RPM was producing about 25 MPH

You don't have to take the motor all the way out of the boat. Slide it forward enough to see if the core plugs are popped out and enough room to put new ones in.
