Re: what plug ?

If the engine is running good the plug will be brown and crispy, almost the same as baking bread. Plugs are usually cheap and worthwhile on such engines as the average 2 stroke outboard. Use a touch of anti seize on the threads. The correct plug should be in your manuel, most likely the same that are in it now. <br />Craig

plugger, Craig offers sound advice.If you have been running tip top and trouble free for three seasons on the type plugs you currently use then I would replace with the same.Most likely Champion as that is what Johnson motors are factoried with.Probably QL78YC or L77JC4

they are not pregapped.... you need to check and regap them to specs. Gap gauge only costs $3.00 at auto parts store. Remember to tighten to torque spec in manual or do as a lot of guys do and thread initially into block by hand to prevent crossthreading and then use socket until it firms up tight. Then 1/4 turn more and thats all. good luck

plugger if you have manual check in it first for which plug. you should use Q or resistor plugs in evinrude or johnson outboards. reg. plugs will work, but the motors were designed for the Q. again check manual because some came with QL82YC the Q plugs will also stop electric suppression noise in radios and fish finders. {have friend who is engine tech at omc, bombardier}
