What prop

I need help since i am from a small town and there is nobody here that has any experience with prop selection. This is our first IO boat and love it.

Have a 09 maxum 1800 sr3 with the 4.3! From factory it came with a 23 pitch aluminum prop and it's fine for the both of us but family and friends are coming down this summer and we want to pull people on a tube or several tubes.

When we have 2 people sitting on the bench in the rear it doesn't want to plane.

Wondering if i go 21" SS prop it should be better and not over rev with me and the GF.

But for pulling I am thinking of going 5 blade 19" pitch SS or a 4 blade

Instead of buying two what would some people recommend for an all around prop which i wont have to switch for cruising or pulling and not have to worry about my revs...

Please help

Re: What prop

Welcome, Be sure to trim down for hole shot.
If you get us the info requested in "read this first" at the top of the main prop page we can probably figure out something.
But we'll need your present numbers to know where to start from.

4.3L Alpha I (190 HP) Carb Compliant is the engine

Re: What prop

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. TRYING TO PLANE WHEN PEOLPE ARE IN THE REAR SEAT AND PULLING TUBERS
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum. 23" PITCH ALUMINUM
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required). DIAMETER I AM NOT SURE BOAT IS STILL IN STORAGE BUT HAS A 23" PITCH ALUMINUM
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP 4.3L Alpha I (190 HP) Carb Compliant is the engine
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight 09 MAXUM 1800 SR3 2600 LBS

Re: What prop

At the least we need the wot(wide open throttle) rpm and speed. gps speed is best.
We need to be able to tell the present performance in order to estimate what prop and what the results will be.
Even under the best circumstances prop selection can be a bit of a gamble.
While ss props can be very effective at about 3 times the cost of aluminum there are al props that do a good job.

Without wot rpm and speed we can't tell if you will stay within your recommended rpm range
or what size prop will likely be effective.

Re: What prop

A aluminum 4 blade prop will help your problem. It is usually suggested to drop one inch pitch when going to a 4 blade. But a 22" may likit your selection both in al and ss.
A 21" Solas amita 4 blade will give you excellent hole shot and the ability to stay on plane easier at reduced throttle. Also respond better around the dock. You will lose some top end.
You will have to watch the rpm with the 21 so as not to over rev.
A 23" will also help hole shot and the other points I mentioned to a lesser degree.

prop store

prop store

After hours of calling and asking around i finally decided to get a 23" high five or a 4 blade 20" al. Anybody know where the cheapest place in the states to get a hi-five. Here in Canada are prices are ridiculous

From what little I've seen it appears a high5 does best in high powered fast boats also I would think that adding 2 blades would require a drop in pitch again not much high 5 experience here.
On the 4 blade; it is suggested to drop one inch pitch when going to a 4 blade.Assuming your near your rated rpm.Assuming the 4.3 is rated at 4800 a 20" may over rev,a 22 assuming 4800 about 49.
You will lose top end
