What size motor

I have a 14ft aluminum V-hull, what is the biggest motor this boat can handle

First, there should be a capacity/max HP plate on the boat.
Second, not all 14' ( or any size) boats are rated the same. Depends on many things.
Can you provide more details? Manufacturer? Year/model? Freeboard?

its a 1972 Star Craft with a 5 ft. beam, the plate is unreadable

A review of my old Starcraft catalogs shows a max of 20 HP for a 14' V-Hull Utility with a 5' beam. Those with side consoles are a bit higher and deluxe models with wooden "floors" are a bit less.

Here's an old forum thread that indicates the max HP is 40 ( assuming it's the same boat of course!)

Edit. Looking into this a little deeper it seems the 72 Holiday model is rated at 40, and the "open fishing boat" at 20.

Thanks everyone for the help, it is an open fishing boat with 3 bench seats so my guess is the max would be a 20hp.
