What stringers?

I have most of my floor our, but no stringers to be seen. All I see that may be them are cross braces made of fiberglass only, in an upside down "L" where the ply floor once sat. looks like theyre shaped fiberglass mat. So is this a good or bad thing? Should i leave them in place and lay new wood or should i build in new stringers going lengthwise?

Probably a good thing if the hull hasn't busted up yet from yrs of use. All glass grid stringer construction was just kicking off in the early 70s and your boat may be one of those who used it. The biggest issue I've heard on old grids is they break loose from the hull. Nowadays that's an easy fix with epoxy glue.

My 1958 Glass Magic was similar to what 73 Del Magic is talking about. It had the "upside down L shaped fiberglass" supporting the deck. It had two main stringers running for and aft that were half round and well below the deck.

Heres the pics i just took. You can see in one pic a 2x2 running lengthwise, might be an attempt at a stringer? Looks like i have a ways to go yet!
