Re: What to doo ?

Well I was able to go out but had to cut it short due to weather. The test was with the original prop 14.25 x 21+ and the motors 4" higher with the jack plates. The planing was much faster and top speed was 41 mph at 5000-5200 rpm depending on sea condition. That is to say on the way out I was against the waves (medium chop) was able to get 5200 rpm at 39-40 mph. On the way back I was with the waves (a following sea) could not get more than 5000 rpm with 41 mph. On the return I could not get the bow to come up as much as on the way out. I am going to try and raise the motors higher to see what will be the result, however the difference is remarkable. Thanks for all the help.

Re: What to doo ?

It's been some time since my last post, here is what I have done. I raised the engine bracket 5" and still using the jack plates set at max height. The center of the prop shafts are in line with the bottom of the hull, have no cooling issues as these motors have Bob's low water nose cones installed. Tested the boat this past weekend and the following was the result:
1) WOT / RPM 6000
2) GPS speed 40 mph
3) A small amount of chinewalk.
My question for Dhadley now is with rpm increase why was the speed not increased, also the boat was running bow heavy. Also were should I connect my water pressure gauge hose on the motor as I don't get good pressure reading but temp is O.K..
Before I forget the prop's are the same 14.25 x 21+.
