i bought a 99 or 2000 115 johnson from a friend who repowered with a 150. then bought a boat with a 97 115 mariner allready on it . my question is should i leave the mariner on it or should i trade them out? both run perfectly any help

What ever one you are satisfied with.

How many hours does the engine have, maintenance records etc. etc.

mariner has excellent record but not sure of hours, but does have125 psi all 4 cylinders johnson has no records and not sure of hours but i know its not much because prev owner was close friend.

i find the Johnsons easier for owner maintenance. but if you did not get the throttle control box that will be an extra expense. mariner and johnson controls don't match.

i do have control box , cables and wiring harness. could someone tell me what could i expect to get out of this motor?

It's hard to say what they're worth, a lot depends on what shape they're in and any maintenance records you have. You could do a quick look on ebay or craigslist to see what other people are selling them for.

Hmm...do you like that size motor? Does it meet your needs, present and possibly future? If so, run the mariner till it blows and store the Johnson as its replacement. The mariner won't bring much cause its a mariner. The Johnson will bring more, but then you'll be left with just a mariner to rely on.
