What to use for Anchoring

Hi,

I have a 22 foot sunrunner cuddy. I want to find something to use to hold the anchor on the front of the boat so that it is easier to anchor. I am a big guy and climbing up on the cuddy to anchor is not easy. Is there a device that will hold the anchor and drop and retrieve it? I've seen the winches made for small boats..but where does the line and anchor rode go?

Thanks.

That device is called an Anchor Windless.

The rode is fed through a hole in the deck into what is known as an anchor rode locker. Basically it's a closed off portion of the very most forward part of the bow.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but I have always wondered what happens to wet anchor line that is stored in the bow's rope locker. I'm thinking in short order it turns into a mildewed stinking mess.

Something to consider in your quest for easier anchoring.

If I have a cuddy...do I have to drill a whole in the cuddy to drop the anchor line? I'm not sure I want to do that. Any other suggestions?

Do you have a picture of the front of your boat? It would help to be able to see what you have to work with.
