Re: What type of trailer damage
I had a tire come apart at 65 mph. The tire was completely destroyed, nothing left except one bead wrapped around the axle, the rim was ruined and I had a small dent in the fender where the tire beat it senseless. A few hits with a hammer straightened it out just fine.
I broke loose the wheels from the rim, pulled my floor jack out of the suburban, jacked up the trailer and removed the rim. I used a pair of diagonal cutters ( wire cutters ) to cut the steel wire of the tire bead that was wrapped around the axle. I put on the spare, let it down, tightened the lugs and put my stuff away. All done in less than 15 minutes.
That was also the only flat flat tire ( so far

) that I've had towing in over 20,000 miles.
