SO i have done two coats of the vasoline cause the first one soacked all the way in.. Im wondering do i need to do anything like wax over it or just let it be and see how long it lasts...

So after reading this post, I too ran on down and got a tub of Vasoline for my 20 year old boat I just purchased. I applied it to all the non-white parts of the faded fiberglass....WOW! I too am a believer now! It totally brought out the beautiful dark green!

What I'm wondering now is has anyone used this on the white parts of their boat? any yellowing? etc?

Wow, great tip guys, I will keep this in mind when we unveil my friends boat that has been in storage for the last 20 years. My boat hopefully won't fade for quite some time, but I will agree with those that mentioned pledge for after polish waxing. We've used it in the sportbike community for ages. When you do a boat with it (much easier then standard wax btw) you literally can't lean on the boat, cause your hands will slip off. Don't get any on the non-slip surfaces (swim platform/deck) as you'll do more skating then walking though. The other advantage is that bug splatter literally wipes right off.

I am gonna use vasoline on my 1972 Del Magic 15' Tri-hull. As you can imagine its lost most of its "shine". The only thing I am gonna do first is get some Simple Green and try to get the tree sap off it. It sat under a pecan tree for a couple years before I bought it, and still shows it. Great Tip!!

Wait, the vaseline should dissolve that tree sap, at least it did on the vinyl top of my 69' Dodge Charger R/T yrs ago, the first time I ever got the idea to use it. That was the birth of my idea, it even took off the sloppy excess black tarry spots of the factory weatherproofing around the rear window, maybe you won't even need simple green
