How do I find out what lower units will fit my motor? I have a 1976 Mercury 1500 (150 hp) straight 6, I have found a few different LU's on ebay, and was wondering how to find out which ones will fit my motor....
Most any 6 cyl. or large sized 4 cyl gear case from 67 to 87 will bolt up, but there are many differant gear ratio's. without noing what engine they are of from it's hard to say what will work
Does the gear ratio matter?<br />If it does I am better off just replacing the gears in my own........They all list the size of motor on ebay, for example, I just don't know if say a 1150 lower unit will work or not
