I just replaced the hose on my port side exhaust and it burst again. a mechanic told me it could be a exhaust restriction like my flapper fell off but i cant seem to find them. I ran an electrica wire pulling snake through the y-pipe and it is free of restrictions. I did not get an overheat wouldnt a exhaust restriction cause an over heat?

thanks

Is there perhaps a cooling issue on the port side? is it running hotter than the starboard?
The "flapper" is located in the exhaust bellows I believe.
If the flapper was faulty, i would think both sides would be affected.

I'm no mechanic, just my thoughts.
I'm sure some smart guys will come along to help you.

The tube is not burning its popping flappers are no longer there.

If it is bursting from pressure, you have a blockage somewhere not letting the exhaust gases and water flow out. Perhaps where the y-pipe meets the transom shield? I know you snaked the ypipe, but perhaps it is after the ypipe....have you removed the exhaust bellows and checked there for possible obstruction?
Certainly an odd problem to have.

ciera i have a marine mechanic looking at it for me but it will be a few days before he gets to it. that is what he was thinking possibly the flappers. but unlike what is posted here he believes the flappers are necessary and their absence could cause hydroloc.

thanx
