I installed a new sending unit...

worked great even still works great but it went fromme turning on the switch and going from dead empty to what the tank reads...

to now when i turn on the switch going from full to what it reads.....

now after I installed this new sending unit it worked like it should i turn on the switch and it would go from empty to where the level in the tank is...

I un hooked and hooked back up the battery a few times while getting it ready for this spring and all of the sudden when the switch is off instead of reading empty it reads vice versa it now reads full and when you turn on the switch it goes to reading tank level correctly.

but why when the switch is off does it now read full? it was reading empty when the switch is off so not sure what happened!?

and no it's not wired wrong...actually there isn't a wrong way to wire a wema sender if you're not using their gauge plus like i said i installed it and it read like it should for days now it's doing the oppoiste when the switch is off.

it still reads the tank level correctly but i want it to read empty when the switch is off not full..why did it change by itself like that?

what I'm trying to stress here is it works..I have 12 gals in my 25 gal tank and it reads slighty under 1/2....

however when the switch it off it went from reading empty to reading full and it was reading empty with the switch off after I installed this new sneding unit so it's installed correctly..

see my point? i'm lost.. only thing i've done was un hook and hook back up the battery a few times.

I think you may have a voltage bleed on that electrical unit. Possible causes are moister or poor wiring. The fuel gauge does not require a lot of amperage to function and it works by ground resistance through the sending unit.

Since you had the battery cables on and off a number of times, what was the reason for that. Did you have some other electrical issues you were trying to resolve and possibly created this issue.

it's working correctly now i hooked the battery back up and snugged the wing nuts down for the final time she's ready btw!

anyway turned the swith and it read..turned it off and it went empty.....not sure why it was doing that but it's fixed seems like.

Pitch the wing nuts and replace them with stainless hex nuts and star washers for a much better electrical connection.
