Re: What would you do in my situation. Please help!!
Hey guys,
Well here is the decision.............. drum role please ............... no decision yet

. I decided this morning that I was going to get the engine and I went over to get it. Luckily I decided to just give everything one last check to make sure I was ok with it and I noticed that the engine was lowering on its own (leaking down). I confronted the guy about this and he said he never noticed it before .......... which normally I would think was BS but the guy seems like he wouldnt hurt a fly so i trust him. Anyway we proceeded to bleed the system, check the fluid level, and make sure that the manual release was fully tightened. After that the symptoms got much better but were still there (it only dipped down about 3/8 of an inch in 15 mins where as before it was going from completely up to completely down in probably 5 mins). So here is where I am at. I am not sure how big of a problem there is with the system, and I wouldnt care if the symptoms never got worse, but I feel as though they are. I know the trim units are expensive so I am kinda at a crossroads here.
It might be worth it to note that he had not used the boat since April of this year. I'm not sure of how these things work, but perhaps the system builds up more and more pressure as you use it. Is it like pumping the brakes in your car??
What do you guys think?
Ohh and jb, he is selling the engine because there is a soft spot in the hull. He actually told me I could have anything off the boat I wanted (gas tank, helm, steering cable etc.)
