Have just purchased a preloved Quintrex 5m Sea Rider Boat in Darwin Australia

It has a 70 HP Johnson VRO (what does that stand for?) on it

model AJ70TLCDC Serial No. A 0613157. - what year is that?

I also note on other Q & A's that people recommend disconnecting the oil injection if the motor is over 10years old? - The motor seems to go well when I took it for a test run the other day. Your wisdom would be appreciated

That's a 1986, Hagar.

Check the Engine FAQs for good info and advice on removing the Variable Ratio Oiler.

the vro system is a good system to have i believe you have wires coming from it that will protect you from running out of oil a alarm of some sort..my bass boat has a vro. premixing is one way of doing it. but i believe that in the vro system is set to give you the best fuel mix for your engine at all rpm levels. premixing is hard to be exact.where as the vro. you dont have to worry about it. add oil add gas. let the engine take care of the rest.im keeping mine. *** IF IT AINT BROKE DONT TRY FIX IT***

Cheers licketdsplit

Will leave it on for the time being, all the wiring bar starting is shot to the fwd console, motor has been well protected with soft seal and flushed with freshwater according to previous owner. Good news is the whole rig looks like it has had little use over the last 20 years
