I just picked up a 40hp Force outboard with controls, ignition, tach, cables and harnesses. Problem is I do not know the year of the motor or the value. I did get a good price it has power T&T and seems to be clean. The Serial # is OEO 68370 . Thanks for anyones time on this. Anything I should know about this motor also would be appreciated, I am in the dark here. Thanks for anyones time on this.

Also does anyone know a quick easy way to start the motor without hooking up all the electronics? I have it on a stand and fuel hooked up, I just need it to turn. Thanks for the help.

1993.

What electronics? Plug in the engine harness, connect a battery, connect fuel, connect ear muffs, turn the key. Make sure it is in neutral and the kill lanyard is installed.

Is this a decent motor? Any idea what the whole package is worth? Thanks for the help.

Force are a budget motor, they were aimed at the lower end of the market.

Like any motor, if they are maintained correctly and regularly they will live for many years.

I am in Australia so I don't know how much it is worth in your neck of the woods. In my neck of the woods, about $1000 with good compression.

Thanks for all the help from down under. I just did compression and got 121/120, sounds good to me what do you think? I also did get it started with no problem at all, problem now is I don't see water being pumped out when running on muffs. Is the water pump a hard job? Anything else it could be? Thanks again for your time.

I'm surprised no one suggested to move your post to the Chrysler Force
section, you'll get lots more help there. In my opinion the major draw back to the Force is parts. To be sure they are out there but can take some searching
Some of the newer Forces share some parts with Mercs. Can't tell you what years.Unfortunately There is no new Force specific part production.Except certain internal engine parts, carb kits etc.

120 is good and the fact that both cylinders are the same is great.

You need to remove the leg to change the water pump. Do you have a manual? You will need one.

Sounds good, I do not have one for this motor yet I own a couple Johnsons. I guess my next step is a manual and I will go from there. Thanks for everyones help.

Pulled the water impeller, look good but seemed to be a little dirty. Cleaned the intake holes with hose and put it all back together. This motor is very easy to work on, pretty straight forward job. Thanks for the help on this.
