I found a guy that's wanting to trade his 1990 Mariner 40hp Magnum for my 1983 Merc 70hp.*
Currently trying to work out details of the trade.

Serial # OC168568
Is this a 1990? Is it Mercury built or Yamaha?
I've read some great things about these motors and not much negative but would love any more insight anyone can provide.*

He'll be sending me a video this evening, but here are some pictures:

Seems like a great deal and more or less perfect for my new skiff, except that it isn't a short shaft...

Any help is appreciated!

Awesome! Thank you sir.

"This one comes up as an MARINER" - I don't understand what you mean by this.
I'm assuming by the link you posted it means that it was Mercury made?

Mariners are a brand of Mercury motors. There were several different reasons that some Mercury motors are branded as Mariners. Sometimes dealerships overlapped territory, some motors were imported with that name. Yours is domestic.

Thank you sir.
That's what I thought, his statement just kind of threw me off a little.
Why doesn't nadaguides have this motor listed? All of their 1989 Mariner 40hp's are listed as only 2 cylinder not 4? Is this just an oversight?

It's looking like we're going to go through with the trade. Just sorting out details now.
Thanks for the help guys!
