Found out its a 1991-

The last letter in the model # is the year- P= 1991

Where did you find the decoding information?

I'm currently trying to find out more about an older Yamaha outboard I acquired and I can't find any references to decoding the numbers. I haven't found a model search- most want you to enter the year first. That doesn't help much...
