What year Merc......70 something...?

My friend just picked up a hydrostream with a 95 horse mercury ss black cowl and no lower unit i told him in might be spendy one to find, where would one look.? have not seen it yet any idea what year.

The search button is a wonderful thing ggoody.<br /><br />Kiekhaefer Mercury 1964-65-66 Models.<br /><br />The ss is a 1966.

Dood, you're talking to yourself. :D <br /><br />The SS meant Solid State - refering to the new solid state ignition that appeared in '66.<br /><br />I always found the fact that the SS logo was done in the same "twin lightning bolt" manner as the logo for the German SS a bit "disturbing".<br /><br />Those lower units appear on Ebay frequently, tough at that age re-sealing one is almost a must.<br /><br />I keep forgetting if the switch to the "modern" lower unit design was '66 or '67, Have him look at the bottom of the leg - if there is an exhaust tube protruding slightly, he can use any of the 70's or 80's lowers too - making it real easy.<br /><br />-W<br /><br /><br />-W

Sweet he'll be glad to here this thanks CC... :) <br /><br />So it Looks like they made this engine in 66 and 67 I'll have to check his serial numbers.... :D
