hello folks i recently got from my mother in law a 6 hp dt long shaft out board which used to be father in laws but not around anymore and nobody in the family has a clue on year was wondering if any body can give me a year or close to for ordering parts and i want to get operating manual if possible what i found on motor is dt 6 suzuki 00601 then gives a serial #also it is a long shaft any help on this would be great i have a few things i need to know on this outboard thanks i have in closed a pic.

we need to know the 2 numbers behind th dt 6 look at brownspoint.com and u can find info there there should be numbers behind 00601 it is between a 84-02

thanks for quick response after the dt6 there is only the serial number no other numbers on plate it just goes dt-6 00601 then serial number233----- dont know if this helps thanks kevin..............

thanks eshaw have had a look cant seem to find serial # at brownsport but will look closer later will look again at outboard but have look every where for more id #s but cant find thanks again will let you know how i make out(would living in canada have any change in the numbers?)

ok usualy the year is stated in the serial number and i dont know any other places

thanks again eshaw looked on brownsport can not even find match on serial numbers mine is 233227 and almost all the other ones at brownsport end with the last 3 digits 001? i have found a manual there but sure would be nice to know year for ordering any parts ,there are a few things i would like to know on this outboard thanks again...will keep looking

Look around on the powerhead its self there might be a place where it stamped on my dt140 98 there is a silver looks kinda like a freeze plug near the cuclinder head that is stamped with the date see if u can find something on the power that is stamped

that motor should be a 92 the firs number is the last digit of the year and 92 was the only year that started with 23

im about 98 percent sure that thats what it is the first number dictates the year in the last number like 92 would be 2 98 would be 8 95 would be 5
