Where did you find that? I've searched the web off and on since buying this motor 4 years ago (can't beat $2000 for a 4 year old 55hp motor, bare bones or not), and have never found any kind of reference for it at all. I don't even know where I'd go to order that, or to see how much it is, but at least I know it's out there. I'll have to ask a shop tomorrow while I'm there on other business for a different motor.

I've never seen that before, but definately a big thanks for pointing it out to me. I would have never found it in accessories. I probably didn't notice a link before. Seems like they were hiding that or something.

And thanks again. I'll have to go through that last site when I get home from work today. I had checked the shop.evinrude.com one after you showed me the brp one and where it was on there. $407 isn't really all that bad, but man, the ideas I saw on that accessories page, now I want it all. Oh well, one step at a time.

Forget adding a solar panel on a boat -- especially if you intend to try and charge batteries on the water. Those panels are terribly ineffective since they have very low output and would add nearly nothing to the state of charge. They are great for long-term maintenance charging during periods of storage. You can install an isolator that would charge both batteries but again, your existing alternator is not large enough to keep both batteries topped off unless you ran at moderate speeds or higher for hours on end. I believe that engine has a 12 amp alternator and that output is available only at faster speeds.

That electric start kit (396949) just went unsold on eBay ... item #370187718683 ... starting (and ending) price was just $99.95! Maybe it will be re-listed??!!

It was relisted ... item #370191259742 ... starting price still $99.95
