What's next?1982 115 rude wont start????

1982 115 rude. replaced powerpack, cranked up motor ran fine all cyl. sparking. cranked it 4 or 5 times more no promblem untill about the 6th time turn key nothing. <br />I can put the key in the on postion and jump the starter and it will run fine, turn key off and the motor stops like it suppose to. The little fuse was blown that comes from the ign. to the solonoid, replaced it, still nothing. What can I check next to fix this?? thanks for help!!

Hi Rude.....what ya' gotta do is find out if you have 12V getting to the solenoid. Put a meter on the small solenoid post with the yellow wire. Have someone turn the key to start and see if ya' are getting 12Vs' there. If not, back up to the ignition sw and measure for 12V's at the "S" terminal when the key is turned to start. If you are using a control box, there should be another switch in there. It's the start in neutral switch. Measure there for 12V also.<br /><br />If ya' got 12V at the solenoid and the thing ain't pinkin' up, audible "click", replace the solenoid.<br /><br />One more trick....jump 12V to the little post on the solenoid with the yellow wire. If the solenoid picks up and the engine cranks....go for the ignition switch or start in neutral sw.

found the problem, the yellow/red wire in the harness was broken where it enters the motor. can you splice these wires in the harness or will it effect the operation of the motor??
