Re: What's not marine parts in here?

Man, what a nightmare. That $350 bucks for a marine surveyer doesn't sound bad now. I have a feeling, the stuff inside the engine isn't marine. Not sure, but by the looks of it so far. What if we change all the stuff on the outside? Flame Arrestor, alternator, fuel pump, distributor, starter, fuel filter... will it be safe then?

The modifications for marine to an engine, are they for safety or performance? I meant the stuff inside. Just wondering if it's to handle the higher RPM's, or for corrosion, or for safety? Could i just ride it easy if I switch the stuff above (outside) in the paragraph above? I've read the differences: cam, freeze plugs, piston, oil pump, marine intake manifold, etc. Just want to know

Man, I'm taking this thing to a mechanic, not messing with it. Maybe I'll do maintenance once it's all put together correctly. Thanks guys for all the info...

Right when i thought it couldn't get worse, it did. The mechanic asked if I could take out the old gas first. So I thought I might as well change the oil. I come to find milky oil. Means waters in there, huh? Oh well.... Give up for now... We got ripped off, the guy told us the engine was good
