What's the best bilge pump I .....

I need a bilge pump and will pay for a good one, what should I buy?
It's going in a 1998 Stingray 220CX with a 350 mag.
Easy change out with the old one?

one that works is the best....lol.

doesnt matter....look here at i boats for a pump.

some people like automatic pumps.....i personally prefer manual ones...that way you have to pay attention....and dont get lazy

Buy a manual pump and add a float switch to make it automatic. The ones that have the built in float or the water detection are unreliable.

the BEST bilge pump is at least TWO bilge pumps.... a really small one with a small hose, as short as possible for maintenance duty... IE rain splashes wet swimsuits etc, and a MONSTER with a big smooth bore hose for emergency ie "What was that?..... Oh crap! PLEASE let me make it to shore"

I also agree with the manual pump with a float switch.... I prefer a switch with a cage to keep anything from getting stuck under it.... I also would use two float switches... one low and normal for the small pump and one a few inches higher for the big pump.... I also sleep on my boat and have an alarm attached to the higher switch that will easily wake me up

I'm a big proponent of a dry bilge and none of the bilge pumps most commonly mentioned completely drain the bilge.

A diaphragm pump will clear it the best, but, is the most expensive.

Depends on how anal you are. Bilge pump counters are invaluabul, especially if the boat is slipped. You mentioned the boat. but. not how it is stored or used.

I'm a firm believer in having a big bilge pump, or two. Cuz ya never know when the fit'll hit the shan ...?

To answer the OPs question I think Rule makes a purty good pump.
