Does anyone know if you could put a 125hp or 150hp on this boat and what kind of speed increases you can get?

You could put whatever your heart desires on her, but anything over the boat's rating would be dangerous and foolish.

I suspect that you have the biggest engine she can safely take.

16' Capri's have a hp limit of 90hp. Its on the yellow sticker near the throttle/control. Like JB said, you can put bigger, but bigger is heavier, and it will sit lower in the water. My Capri sits lower with a 90 Johnson due to the extra 50 or so lbs the motor weighs.

If you want to go faster, strip out everything from the boat you don't need to make it operate. Less weight means more speed (to a point).

If you were involved in an accident it would break your bank account.
Insurance is a problem + if you were pulled for going 60 MPH in a speed zone they would charge you with several things.

typical late 80s force 85hp weighs between 350-380lbs ,if you wanted they do make some 115hp 2stroke engines that are in the same weight range research the weight cause im unsure of the brand at the moment. keep in mind although it is the same weight the increased power would change the handling of the boat. ive heard of people doing the same type of swap and only gaining 3-5 mph.
