Whats the year?

Im looking at a 90 HP Evinrude with the following model number, 140843C. What year is this motor?

Steve....if that is truly the model number, it registers as a 1978 140hp.

From where on the engine did you get the number.....tag on transom brackets?

Thats what the computer told me as well. The number was on a plate on the trensom bracket, maybe the original motor was changed? Is there any other way to find the year?

Look on the block for a core plug, silver in color. Bout the size of a quarter or maybe a little larger. The model and serial number will (should) be there also. Post any number you may find on it.

I found this number stamped into the block, 310532 is that any help?
