Re: What's up with California

jgregory yes, I'm working real hard on participating in this debate properly. I'd like to do my state proud and counter some of the circus that the media has constructed.
Again I have to direct you to the previous link from the California Secretary of States website. Here lies the answer to your questions.

http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/ror/regstats_02-10-03.pdf

There is many things that this information points out.
One is that historically Republicans have been a solid minority party in this state. Republicans naturally were grossly underrepresented in state government. This would include conservatives and fiscal conservatives.
The largest point that has to be made is the definite and significant transformation that recently been occurring in California.
If you notice the democratic party is loosing members. The overwhelming majority of democratic counties a decade ago has fallen drastically to Republican control. While the Republican gain in registration is moderate, the gain in conservative parties, i.e. Independent, Libertarian, Constitution and Reform is significant.
This significant political transformation was in motion long before Davis. Yet the Davis recall is part of this transformation.

You ask how one person can be responsible. Davis isn't totally responsible for the problems here. However, Davis is totally responsible for his actions, inaction's and what comes from his own mouth.

The 63 million is basically the peoples frustration over the whole stinking mess. And it won't stop with Davis.

The historically overwhelming grip the liberal democrats in our state legislature has hand built a massive, all consuming, powerful government machine here. They've supplied the 9th district court with fools. Fed a massive, very expensive, lazy, and bottom rate education system along with it's teachers unions.
It's been proven over decades here that liberal politicians are also liberal spenders.

Plywoody asks, Are Californians that stupid?
Well...yes they have been. And there is an abundance of stupidity here. However, as the supplied information suggests, were getting a lot smarter. In a few weeks there might even be some career politicians that will get a fine education.

The next governor, especially if it's Arnold/Buffett, will be irrelevant. It's important to understand it took several decades to get to this point. And it'll take a few more to get out of it. However, as the provided information shows, this transformation is in motion, getting larger and I'm convinced, unstoppable.

Yes jgregory, by the time it's all done and over.
We'll have tossed the whole lot out. ;)

I'm sure the Dems did not help their cause when a secret meeting in which they advocated dragging out the budget crisis for political reasons, was heard by all due to an open mic....

Re: What's up with California

Thanks Skinny for the info.

The reasoning for the question is that our Governor Jim (his highness) McGreedy (whoops that's McGreevy)thinks very highly of CA and is trying to mirror the state accordingly. The Problem here is that to try to fix anything we would have to wait for an election cycle. We do not have I & R and it would be virtually impossible to do a recall like your doing.

Good luck out there.

Model NJ aftyer CA? Your Govenor MUST be on drugs or off his meds! That alone should be reason for recall!

I once told the head of a big CA governmental department to his face that he could improve services and effectiveness if he shut the department down! They did more harm than good. CA is one messed up government! Funny thing was he agreed...

Tell me about it Ralph!

The governors office is studing CA's auto insurance and transportation system. We already have energy deregulation, that was givin to us by Christie Whitman(R). However, the rate caps expire this month after a 2 year extension done by this administration. We are looking at double digit increases in utility costs across the board. And the competition that was promised to drive rates down never occurred because the state never loosened regulations to allow new companies in the market. So we are going to be stuck w/a deregulated monopoly. Sound Familiar?

And we have no way of forcing issues on the ballot because the lying pol's never gave us I & R as promised.
