It may have sounded like I was being hard on the mechanic but as a consumer it is always best to make sure that things were properly installed and if not that is okay, as long as it gets taken care of and fixed. Since installation of a new impeller does not involve touching or disconnecting anything that has to do with shifting gears, cable etc then he would not be responsible, if it would have involved these things then we are being charged for it anyway so it should be done first before pointing to bad gears.
